Recently I had the chance to put on a LinkedIn Live event that got a ton of views, shares and engagement. I truly believe it was because of the topic. There are so many people in business from start up to National and International companies that simply don't understand the value of video. Maybe they understand that they need to utilise this powerful tool but have no idea where to start. If they have started, maybe they are going down the wrong track. But in this short blog, I hope to get you well on your way to grasping how to think about video for your business; no matter the scale.
If you still haven’t dipped your toe in the ocean of online video here are a few stats that should at least, get your attention.
Online videos make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic
72% of customers said they would rather learn about a product or service by way of video. In fact, 84% of people say they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video
Still not convinced?
Viewers retain 95% of a message when they watch it in a video, compared to 10% when reading it in the text
Marketers who use video grow revenue 49% faster than non-video users
Including a video on your landing page can boost your conversion rate by up to 80%
Yeah that's a lot but it's undeniable at this point. Video for your business isn't a fad or a luxury. It simply is the best form of communication with you audience. Below are the 5 areas to consider when thinking about jumping into the video pool.
What's the Potential Impact of Video on my business?
This is where you make your pros and cons list and go over them with a fine tooth comb. Let's be honest, no matter how good a thing appears to be there are always 2 sides to the coin. Do I have the resources to pour into this at this time? Are we ready to put a face to our business? Do we have the capacity to increase the volume that may be the result of a successful campaign?
Where is your audience?
Depending on the type of business you’re in, you can predict with a good level of certainty where you may find your audience. For example, if your business creates products that are visually appealing like clothing, jewelry or food you should if you aren’t already on in, be utilizing instagram. However if your business is mostly engaging with other companies in a B-2-B setting, LinkedIn is the perfect space. Of course there is going to be a lot of overlap.
